Music plays an important part in worship within the parish. At Our Lady & St. John there is a regular team of organists who play at 8.30am and 11.15am Mass on Sundays. The choir also sings at the 11.15am Mass. Following the refurbishment of the organ in 2011, the church has welcomed visiting musicians such as Ian Tracey and the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Choir and has enjoyed a varied musical programme.
At present there are 12 members; 6 altos, 6 sopranos 1 tenor and 1 bass with organist Mr Peter Fishwick. The choir sings at 11.15 am Mass each Sunday from the beginning of September until the end of July. New members, particularly tenors and basses, and anyone with a singing voice willing to give commitment to the choir will be welcome. There are no auditions – just enthusiasm!
Our parish choir is also available for weddings, funerals and other occasions if required.
For information please contact Peter Fishwick.
